Zoilita’s journey began at age sixteen, when she weighed 265 pounds. Without trainers, apps, or modern wellness programs, she turned to the library with her mother, checked out every book on hypnosis, and taught herself to reprogram her mind. Within a year, she lost 150 pounds.

How? By aligning her subconscious and conscious mind. She visualized success, created affirmations, and changed her habits. The lesson for leaders is clear: your beliefs and daily practices either accelerate or sabotage your performance. 

Many marketing sources, including Harvard’s Zaltman, suggest that as much as 95% of decisions may be shaped by the subconscious mind, rather than conscious logic. When left unchecked, that programming quietly undermines execution and leadership effectiveness.

Silos at the senior level reduce efficiency by 30% (McKinsey, 2025). Weak pipelines hinder succession and negatively impact attrition, costing organizations up to 2.5 times a leader’s salary in turnover (SHRM). Gartner reports that 71% of HR leaders cite change readiness as the number one capability gap for their senior teams.

These breakdowns are happening today in boardrooms, on project teams, and inside transformation initiatives across industries. Once they replaced those limiting beliefs with empowering ones and adopted successful business habits, their outcomes changed dramatically.

That lesson translates to every corporate leader. If you believe innovation belongs to “the other department,” your teams won’t innovate. If you believe resilience is about working longer hours, your leaders will burn out.
